NEURO UPDATE 2025

The MSSI-Chennai Chapter was honoured to attend a comprehensive MS program at the Neuro Updates conference, organized by the Madras Neuro Trust. The event took place on January 11th, 2025, at Hotel Leela Palace, under the patronage of Dr. G. Arjundas, Chairman, Neuro Update, and Prof. C.U. Velmurugendran, Hon. Secretary, Neuro Update.

The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Ann Gonsalvez, who introduced the esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Mamatha Pasnoor, MD, Professor of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas, USA.

As a token of appreciation, a shawl was presented to Dr. Pasnoor by Mrs. Chitra, a committee member, while Mrs. Archana Ganesh honoured Dr. Arjundas with a garland.

Dr.Michael D Hill MD. MSc. FRCP, Prof. Cumming School of Medicine Calgary, Canada, a specialist in Neuro Rehabilitation from Canada joined in. The session was highly interactive, with individuals living with MS and their caregivers actively engaging with the speakers, seeking clarification on various aspects of MS management, including treatment options and medications.

Special emphasis was also made,

  1. Spinal Issues and the Use of Steroids
  2. Bladder Dysfunction and Urinary Urgency
  3. Connection between kyphosis and Bladder Dysfunction
  4. Stiffness and Exercise – Rehabilitation in MS

Overall, the “Neuro Update” meeting provided valuable insights into the latest advancements in Multiple Sclerosis research & management, highlighting the ongoing efforts to enhance our understanding and management of the various symptoms and complications associated with MS. As research continues to evolve, we can expect even more groundbreaking developments in the near future.

The key takeaways emphasize the significance of comprehensive evaluation, thorough assessment, early diagnosis and intervention and multidisciplinary approach to address the diverse aspects of the condition.
