To commemorate the World MS Day 2024, MSSI, Mumbai Chapter had organized its Medical Seminar: Navigating MS together on Saturday 11th May, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 12: 30 pm at Sion Hospital Auditorium.
In all, more than around 100 participants, including MSSI Committee members, MS persons with families, and Doctors from Sion Hospital & Dilasa Group were present.
We were graced by the presence of Guest of Honor: Prof Dr Sangeeta Ravat, Neurologist & Dean of KEM Hospital.
Dr Anita Patel, Consultant Urologist and Dr Parthvi Ravat, Neurologist were invited as Speakers for the Event.
Registration for the Medical Seminar started from 9:30 am onwards.
Dilasaa Group Volunteers took charge of the Snacks Counter. Tea and biscuits were served to all attendees. Dila
Sundari Raju, Hon. Secretary, Mumbai Chapter welcomed all the guests and briefed the audience about WMSD.
Dr. Rekha Bhatkhande, Dean of Shushrusha Hospital, Nat. V. President of MSSI & Hon. Vice Chairperson of Mumbai Chapter chaired the session.
The Program began with Dr Rekha announcing the felicitation of Mrs Sheela Chitnis: Co-founder of MSSI & Chairperson, Mumbai Chapter.. Her yeomen service has truly made a difference in MS Community at large. Managing Committee Members of the Mumbai Chapter presented her with a Shawl & Coconut. Mrs Chitnis with touching words described her journey of association with MSSI for more than 39 years.
Our Guest of Honour Dr B.S. Singhal’s was unable to attend the Medical Seminar as he was to receive Marwad’s highest Award “Marwad Ratma” in Jodhpur. He had sent a message Congratulating MSSI for their service to MSPs, which was kindly read by Mrs Chitnis.
Then Dr Rekha introduced the Guest of Honour, Dr Sangeeta Ravat, Neurologist & Dean of KEM Hospital. Mrs Chitnis felicitated her with a Shawl and Coconut.
Dr Rekha Introduced both the speakers and Sheela Chitnis felicitated the speakers.
Dr Anita Patel gave a presentation on “Urinary Issues in Multiple Sclerosis”.
Dr Parthvi Ravat , a Neurologist from Australia, gave a presentation on: “MS and Fatigue “
Two invitees; Dr Haresh Bharot, Dean Sion Hospital & Dr Pradnya Diwan, Psychologist from Shushrusha Hospital were also present and were felicitated with a Shawl & coconut.
Mrs Chitnis made a special mention of Avanti Patel, daughter of Dr Anita Patel, who is a in Hindustani Classical and Semiclassical Vocalist has always tried to raise awareness about MS wherever she can.
Dr Pradnya Diwan spoke about the importance of Counseling in MS.
After the two speakers, the session was followed by Questions and answers.
The program ended by proposing a vote of thanks by Sundari Raju.
Snacks were served to all.
