The Mumbai Chapter organized a virtual musical concert for MS Families on 8 October 2022. It was truly enjoyed by all present. Pandit Vivek Josh, a Mumbai-based Sarod player entertained the attendees. He has been playing for 40 years in Maihar Gharana of Pt. Ravi Shankar, a famous international Sitar player with awards like Rotary Excellence and Ganvardhan Puraskar in Pune.
Sarod has only steel plates and no freights like sitar and guitar. It has strong deep meditative and base sounds. The striker is made of coconut shell. It is a modification of Rubab which is a folk instrument from Afghanistan. The soldiers from Afghanistan got the Rubab to India where it was modified as per the needs of Indian music.
